Jamar Pinkney Sr. Jamar Pinkney Jr.
When I first heard about this story, I was wondering what would make a father kill his namesake, his seed. Even though nothing gives another human a right to kill, I found myself with mixed emotions on this one. Let me tell you what happened. Apparently, Jamar Jr. confessed to his father that he molested his three-year old half-sister and his father killed him as he pleaded for his life. He actually made his son strip down until he was naked, then proceeded to take him to a lot; forced him to his knees; and fatally shot his son with one bullet to the head. My first reaction was total shock and my mouth hung opened for minutes. My heart went out to this murdered teen, no one deserves to die that way. My sensitive side wants to believe that anyone deserves a second chance, can’t God change anyone’s heart, this boy could have been delivered……right? Then, my education came full circle because I do know that child molesters can not be cured, only exposed and most only serve 3-5 years for their violent acts that leave so many children bruised and dead. If this boy was six years older, most people would not have cared about his fate? Most people agree that child molesters should be killed, so that they can’t hurt anymore innocent children, but since this boy was only fifteen; was the victim’s family suppose to overlook it. Who says that this boy wouldn’t have done it again if he was still alive? If he could harm his vulnerable little sister, wouldn’t he have harmed any other little girl?. What would you have done if a 15-year-old molested your toddler?
This situation is a devastating tragedy and it looks like nothing but more mourning and heartache will come from it because Jamar Sr. is looking at a life sentence if convicted. The judge entered a “not guilty plea” on behalf of Pinkney Sr. He is also being charged with three counts of felonious assault and one count of felony firearm.
Jamar Pinkney Jr. has been funeralized and was remembered to be a good student that was quiet and kept a smile on his face. This teen will never see his full potential or what he could of made of his life after this tragic event. This teen had to die in fear with his last vision was hate coming from the eyes of a man who fathered him and that makes me sad even though I can’t fathomed what he did. Did his father have a right to do this? Did he do another innocent, little girl a favor? DBlog family, share your feelings.
FYI: Jamar Pinkney Sr. is a man with no criminal history prior to this event and served as a mail carrier for 15 years.
